Gondola in Hafjell next winter 2006/2007
The construction work will start this summer, and according to the plans the 8 person gondola will be ready to serve our ski guests from the opening of the winter season 06/07. The capacity will be of 2000 persons per hour. With the bottom station located at Skitorget, 195 m.a.s.l, and the top station at Mosetertoppen (above the Kjus-run), 783 m.a.s.l, the vertical drop will be of 588 m.

The gondola will offer a more comfortable transportation, and sheltered from wind and cold weather, you can better enjoy the good view over the valley. The gondola is also meant to be a reserve for Chairlift I, and distribute our guests to the different activity areas.

To establish a lift service like this, will mean a lot to the convenience for cross country skiers, beginners, families, hikers, handicapped people, bikers, and other groups for whom the upper part of the mountain is especially attractive.

Hafjell is also aiming at becoming more of a summer destination, and consequently a gondola will fit well into the plans of a swift transportation from the valley to the upper areas.
A significant and future-oriented investment like this, meets the ambition of Hafjell still being in the role as one of the leading winter resorts in Norway. We also believe the gondola will be a spearhead within the field of marketing.

I\'m going to Norway this winter with two 14 year olds who have never slied.

We\'re coming in to Oslo Torp. What\'s the nearest resort for beginners?

The Lillehammer mountains are situated about 850 metres above seal level and 15-20 kilometres from Lillehammer town centre. We can offer about 350 kilometres of cross-country skiing trails and direct trails between Nordseter and Sjusjoen to Lillehammer, the Hafjell area and the Olympic trails at the Birkebeineren Skiing Stadium. Hafjell Alpine area has some of Scandinavia\'s longest slopes 5,5 kilometres continuous skiing in blue and red slopes. The snowboard Park, which has been designed by the world\'s best snowboarders, is also extremely popular.
